The 2015 gold-medal barbershop quartet Instant Classic will headline this year's BYU-Idaho Barbershop Music Festival Saturday, Feb. 10, in Rexburg. Concerts on Saturday will be at 6 and 8:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall of the Snow Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are $12 for the general public and $6 for BYU-Idaho students. They are available online at tickets.byui.edu, at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office or by calling (208) 496-3170.
Also performing at the concert will be the BYU-Idaho Men's Choir, Women's Choir, student quartets and the Carousel Chorus from Rexburg.
Instant Classic is comprised of David Zimmerman (tenor), Theo Hicks (lead), Kohl Kitzmiller (baritone), and Kyle Kitzmiller (bass). They are four good friends with a passion for barbershop harmony, a cappella music and youth outreach. They perform a variety of music from several decades and styles, including vocal jazz, musical theater, pop and even R&B.
Instant Classic began singing together in college and first competed in the Barbershop Harmony Society International Collegiate Quartet Competition in 2009. The group has since become the 2011 Cardinal District Quartet Champions ((Indiana and Kentucky); the 2012 International Collegiate Quartet Silver Medalists; the 2012, 2014 and 2015 Cardinal District Quartet of the Year; and competed in Pittsburgh, Penn., in 2015 and to become the International Quartet Champions.
The group has performed at a number of venues across the United States and Canada, and has also served as the guest teaching quartet for over 13 Youth in Harmony Camps since their formation. The group features several original arrangements from quartet members, as well as arrangements from their primary coach Scott Kitzmiller, father of two of the singers.
